Course Content: What You’ll Learn

By the end of this training, you’ll:

Understand the history and evidence behind clinical supervision.
Know the difference between training, supervision, and therapy.
Explore a range of theoretical models for supervision (with pros and cons of each).
Gain confidence in supervising both individuals and groups.
Learn how groups develop over time and how to use this to enhance group supervision.
Address legal and ethical issues that arise in supervision.
Understand the health and emotional issues that may affect supervisees.
Build a toolkit of activities and approaches to use in supervision sessions.

Format and Assessment of Hypnotherapy Supervisor Training

You can take this course in one of two ways:

Home Study
- Instant access to course notes, handouts, and pro forma.

- Tutor support via email whenever you need it.
- Complete a workbook and run a supervision session (we’ll help you find a volunteer if needed).
- No time limit on completion.

Workshop (Zoom)
- A two-day live event (next available in 2026, date tbc).
- Detailed course notes and handouts.
- Practical experience supervising peers in real time.
- Support and feedback from your tutor.

Support: by email for those on the home study option, in the classroom for those learning in-person. Ongoing by email in both cases, as you set up your supervision practice.

Suitable for: hypnotherapists from all professional bodies. Accepted by many organisations as a valid route to supervisor status, including but not limited to the GHR and BHSC, who have both pre-approved it.

Please note that each professional body has its own criteria for recognising supervisor status, often based on years in practice and/or client hours in addition to supervision training. Please check what your professional body requires before enrolling.

Commitment: The in-person course is two days. Time taken to complete the home study course varies, depending on how much of the suggested wider reading and research you choose to complete. Average is around 12 hours.

Level: for qualified and experienced hypnotherapists.
